First of all, yes there are. Second of all the record doesn't have to be complete. It is impossible to have a complete record. That doesn't prove anything.

"Due to the rarity of preservation and the likelihood that speciation occurs in small populations during geologically short periods of time, transitions between species are uncommon in the fossil record. Transitions at higher taxonomic levels, however, are abundant." -talk origins.

Again you can go there for several articles on it.

Well when you have huge gaping holes between almost every animal i would think it a good idea to find some more befor you use it as evidence

If you have huge gaping holes in the information contained in your brain and you do not understand the nature of the fossil record it's a good idea to keep your mouth shut.

Speaking of dinosaurs has anybody heard of the "arboreal" theory? It states that dinosaurs that lived in the branches of trees turned into birds by trying to jump from one branch to another. Are you serious? lol

Og, and Armel, regarding the concept the "tree of life", doesn't it state that one phylum must first emerge, and then the other phyla must slowly come about with minute changes over very long periods of time? And that the differentiation between, and growing complexity in, living things must have happened in parallel over time?

Having said that, what are your thoughts about the "Cambrian explosion" the period of the abrupt appearance of major animal groups, which lasted no more than 5 million years, before which, there is no trace in the fossil record of anything apart from single-celled creatures and a few very primitive multicellular ones?

And what about the 3.5 million-year-old footprint of a young homo-sapien found by palentologists in 1977?

SisterX, how about a few links to back up all those claims?

There are no gaping holes. There is just lacking fossil evidence. The holes are completely filled by an analysis of genetic homology across species. Fossils are old hat. DNA is a story book describing the entire process of evolution to those who know a bit of math.

For those doubting the evolution theory, I'll recommend these two books; The language of God (written by the Chairman of the Human Genome project...(The Guy also happen to be an evagelical Christian) and The God Delusion (written by the current Atheist Arch-Bishop Richard Dawkins) They are excellent reads. There are also Audiobooks versions of these materials. Listen and you'll never doubt again. You might even graduate from your fence-sitting agnosticism to full atheism for theist.
