Never once? Are you sure?

The finches in the Galapogos didn't benefit from having different beaks?

The pathogen causing sickle-cell anemia isn't better off when it mutated to resist medication?

These I just pulled off the top of my head. I'm sure a little research could bring hundreds and thousands more.

Good call, Jaej. When a virus develops resistance to drugs, that is a clear example of a beneficial mutation. Beneficial to the virus, that is.

My brother is a microbiologist and geneticist working in cancer research. He sees such mutations virtually every day.

Just as a note, sickle cell is not caused by a pathogen. It's an inherited trait like eye color. It's genetic. It's a mutation in the hemoglobin gene that somehow confers resistance to malaria.

It causes other issues for the individual, but nothing is perfect. All of our components cause issues that eventually lead to our deaths.

In any case, sickle cell is selected for by malaria mosquitos in third world countries in africa.

What you talking about is called natural selection. Those are changes within a species. However it doesnt change it to a new species or anything like taht. Natural selection i should add does not go against the Bible.

I agree.
