| I've got no problem with my body disintegrating, be it by decomposition or cremation or what have you. My afterlife consists of molecular reincarnation, not as one being but as many. Atoms all over the place, doing new things in new forms... The ultimate in "eternal life." |

| What's scary about knowing there is nothing after death? If you believe you just rot in the ground, then that is the most comforting of all. I'm agnostic, so I don't hold a specific belief, but if there was a gun to my head forcing me to guess, I'd guess there's nothing. When your brain dies, you die. And if so, that just makes life even more valuable. What you do on Earth during your lifetime will matter even more, and each moment is priceless. You don't have to spend countless hours of your life wondering what will happen and what you have to do to prepare for it. I don't live my life obsessing over avoiding Hell or Purgatory. I live it wondering how my actions will affect others, represent myself, and affect myself. I focus on my life that I know, not the on the afterlife I don't.

The ultimate in "eternal life." | You know that was the most beautiful things I have yet to see in here. What I have yet to see concerning reality this is the best we can hope for so far and it really doesn't appear that bad as you are contributing to reality as we know it for now. A person feels themselves as deflated but in the overall we are all the same energy. It looks like a symphony from a quantum point of view. Can a person really feel bad about this perspective? It maybe right and it maybe wrong... how bad can this be? It's about giving and cherishing life through energy and mass. We are all part of one universe true? Quote:

| What's cool about death is that it's as much of an illusion as free will is. You are elements created in the furnace of stars that have come together under the forces of the universe and developed highly complex sensory inputs and event storage (memory). "Death" involves your pattern changing and redistributing into the universe. "You" don't go anywhere. The pattern changes, but you and the universe are the same process. Tat tvam asi.

| That is pretty cool. Since there is no 'you' there is no 'death', really. Just the atoms in your body spreading out through the world, contributing to the entropy of the universe. Everyone does their part. haha

| "You" and the universe are the same process. That's nirvana. the energy that has coalesced to form what you think is you has been and always will be. Certainly "you" won't have sensory experience or memory once your brain stops (because these are products of a certain pattern of energy and matter called the human brain).
But "you" aren't something that's put into this world and taken out. You ARE this world.
Alan Watts says, "As the ocean waves, the universe peoples. Each of us is an expression of the entire realm of nature."
Like flowers budding on a stem.
I don't mind enjoy desire and experiencing fear. I don't feel the need to rid myself of it through some aesthetic life of prayer and meditation like some people. I know that when death comes, nirvana comes with it. You're not stuck in some cycle of reincarnation. You're not stuck as some independent soul inserted into the world and taken out later.
You are made of the same elements that burst forth from the sun and sparkle in the aurora. You're the same thing as a rock or a tree. Tat tvam asi. It's a wild thing and very real.

| The circle of life.
Sometimes when I'm at work that song will come on the radio and I'll sing it under my breath so no one can hear me. Because I suck at singing.

| My dog died yesterday of old old age
She persists. The pattern that she represented in the universe had a direct effect on the matter that made her up. She had effects on those around her soothing them and enjoying life. Those effects caused changes in the world that will propagate forever (no matter how small). She didn't go anywhere, the pattern that was keeping her physical matter together is dissociated, but the effect of that good ol dog is, was, and always shall be.
Just as with all things
