Default Question for the Creationists and their 6,000 year old earth.

OK,

I was doing some reading as usual and a question dawned on me that of course I felt I immediately needed to pose to all of you folks here on AF.

On a side note.. man it sure is nice to have a place like this to post questions like these.

Ok so on with my question.

It is widely known and accepted that one major reason Creationists buck the Evolutionist claim is their belief that the earth is fairly young. About 6,000 to 1,0000 years old actually (First line, first paragraph). So my question to those that follow that line of logic is this.... putting aside all the ommissions in the bible that require some pretty creative excuses to explain away, what about oil?

You see we know oil takes millions of years to create. How do we know this? Well the answer that most ordinary folk like you and I would understand is simple. In these days of recently spiking gas prices, if it were possible to produce oil from organic substances in just a few hundred or thousand years wouldn't we be doing so?

Can anyone explain that?

No modern-day enlightened Christian thinks the Earth is only 6000 years old :)
Anyway time is relative (ask Einstein), and even the Bible says so -
"With God a thousand years are as one day" (2 Pet 3:8 )

So Jesus was crucified just 2 days ago..

According to that argument he also lived a thousands of years...

It must be nice to make a day mean a thousand years any time you need it to force a chronoligically flawed passage make sense.

Good ole christians will eat it all up though. Yes master... err pastor.. they meant a thousand years. OK I get it now

I'm a Free Christian which means I don't belong to any Organised Religion.
We don't need them to do our thinking for us
As for Catholics, they're basically alright but waste for too much time praying to dead humans (Mary and 'saints') even though that's technically spiritualism which the Bible forbids outright.
Also, catholics are too much into cheap religious trinkets, baubles and statuettes which make their churches and homes look like fancy goods warehouses..

Hey, Fredo was out fishing on the lake and prayed to Mary to help him catch a fish, unaware that the guy in the boat with him was a hitman..

We DO make oil. Google "making oil from trash" or see here

Oil has been Carbon-14 dated, it's not millions of years old.

Judit (if you are actually telling the truth), please do not post such things on this forum. This is for religious discussion, not you showing off your private life.

We make diamonds and other gems, too, by artificialy speeding up the natural process. That doesn't mean that they don't take hundreds or thousands of years to form under normal conditions. Also, remember that fossil fuels are made from the remains of living things, so of course they wouldn't be all that old compared to the age of the earth itself. Also, wouldn't different deposits have different ages? Where do you get the info about carbon dating oil from?
