| Evolution and Creation (Quick poll Survey) New member here, currently in college required to do a paper, and I'm getting a survey in from multiple sites about this subject. I will remain anonymous in what my religion and beliefs are, and question no one else on theirs. I will be as repsectful as I can.
This thread is not intended to be a debate or flame war of any kind. More than likely I won't even pay attention to what is said, and keep my focus only on the poll. As said, I'm currently in college and am doing a speech paper on this subject, so this is purely statistical reporting, nothing more.
However, as I am doing this on multiple sites, I cannot change the question and answers of the poll, so please bear in mind that I understand I'll likely not get any votes for two out of the four options, but I do ask that you still vote honestly even if anonymously. |

| i picked it shouldn't be taught, but i do think it can be talked about in a social studys or historical studys class, but not as something thats plausible. so no not in science class. evolution is a scientific thing, it should be taught in science class, creationalism is a religious thing, if a social studys class is talking about different religions then they can bring up the different creational theorys that might go with thoses religions.

| How does one teach creationism? It can only be stated. There is no comprehension associated with it. It is an ideology, not a scientific pursuit.

| A clarification here: Evolution is, strictly speaking, not the study of the origins of life; that's abiogenesis.
There are two major problems with teaching creationism in science class:
1. It has no scientific basis and no body of peer-reviewed data to support the hypothesis.
2. It comes in more than one flavour, depending on the religious mythology being utilized. "Let there be light" could just as easily be a cosmic egg or a frost giant sweating humans out from its armpits. In the end any discussion would break down into arguments as to which myth should be put up against Natural Selection in the finals. |

| Evolution has a place in science class, creationism does not. If it were to be taught then it should be in a class dedicated to religions. Not just a christian class, but a religious study class where students learn about a wide variety of religious beliefs.

| if you think both should be taught i think your being too generous to the religious, i have nothing against people having a religion but a school is not the place to be practicing it, if they do want it they should have to go to a faith school which most crazy....i mean religious people do.

| it could be called a theory, like many other unproved theories.the trouble is as soon as you give it airtime it becomes credible for so many believers.im an agnostic but i still find the creation theory worth discussing. |
