| Intermediate Forms and other ID junk I know that particularly SisterX (and others) have presented things such as the lack of intermediate forms in the fossil record as reasons to doubt evolution. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVRsW...elated&search=
Ken Miller gives a talk at case western
Ken miller has written biology text books that have been widely used throughout the country at high schools and universities. He has been a witness at a variety of school board trials involving the teaching of ID.
At about 31 minutes into the talk (preceded by some great oration), he lays out exactly how the claims of ID are false. He begins with intermediate forms in the fossil record and talks about how there are so many fossils of intermediate forms that paleontologists get in fist fights about whether to call it a "mammal like reptile" or a "reptile like mammal." Amongst other things.
That's as far as I've gotten when I decided to make this post. This link is a 2 hour video of a talk that I think is very much worth seeing.

| Fr example, Ambulocetus natans is an intermediate form between land mammals and whales/dolphins. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ambulocetus
This creature dispels many of those irreducible complexity arguments about how an intermediate form would be too clumsy on land or in water to survive.
NOt only this one, but there are 5 such intermediate forms between land animals and whales. These forms (as illustrated in a pub in the journal nature about 2 years ago) illustrate the evolution of the middle ear of the land animals from an apparatus good at hearing in air to one good at hearing in water.

| The chimpanzee genome was sequenced about a year or two ago. The great apes have 48 chromosomes while we have 46. By comparing sequences between humans and chimpanzees, we find that our chromosome #2 is the exact sequence homology with two independent chromosomes in the apes. The chromosome has inactivated centromere and multiple telomere sites in it indicating this as well as sequence homology.
This talk is VERY cool. I recommend everyone watch it.
They know the PRECISE base pair out of hundreds of millions in the chromosome where the fusion of the common ancestor chromosomes took place.

| If anyone would like to see the paper from the journal Nature (probably one of the most prestigious journals in the scientific community) that talks to this topic of the chromosome fusion in humans, I can send it to you. Just PM me and give me your email (it requires a subscription to access) http://www.nature.com/nrg/journal/v7...s/nrg1895.html

| I guess I don't expect much feedback from this thread. Much like the people like Behe who fight for ID (or whatever they call it), opponents of evolution don't care at all about facts. They argue from ignorance and don't pay attention to the facts unless they appear relevant to supporting their causes.

| Man.. all of these good facts about evolution and no response from the creationist components... I suppose they just save their arguments for those people who are about as informed as they are. They like to prey on the ignorant.
Religion is such a parasite in the mind.

People will wax on and on about creationist junk claims and stances out of utter ignorance in threads that they start about their little personal creation myths.
It's interesting to see that they're not interested in addressing the kind of facts that really get to the guts of the claims of evolution.
That last post of mine was just fundie baiting, I'm sorry to say.
