| Scientology kill cruises career? Do you think the recent firing of Tom Cruise from Paramount was for financial reasons only or his wacky behavior and public support for Scientology?
Do you think we have harshly reacted to Cruise jumping on the cough on oprah and speaking out about drug meds for kids? |

| I dont think his religion was in all in part with Paramount and his company parting ways. I know they cut back on subsidies to small production companies and gave them an across the board spending amount. I know his company was a big time spender and was not compensating Paramount properly. In fact Paramount was losing $$ on his company - even with his big time movies. I think Cruises company bailed out on the deal because they wanted a free ride and didnt want to foot the deal over the spending limit at paramount.
As far as Cruise behavior on Oprah. His jumping on the couch was outta sorts for his public demeanor. To me a little off. As far as his opinion about anti - depressants for people - well thats his opinion and was not off for stating it. Even if I disagree with his ideas of why.

| I think Tom Cruise has become his own worse enemy. He is just too out there for me. I stopped paying attention to him a long time ago, he is just getting weird. |

| I'm sure the guy has enough money to be as absolutely weird as he wants. Notwithstanding the whole business end of the thing, I couldn't fault Paramount for dropping him even if it was because he was going wacky. People begin looking at your star like some sort of bug and its not good for business. |

| If I remember the press release, they did cite his erratic behavior as part of the reason. I think since he started getting publicly wacky his movie income has gone down too. As far as the whole Scientology thing, though, there are plenty of other well-paid actors (Travolta, Kirstie Alley, etc) who practice and don't act like lunatics in public. |

In my opinion, Cruise embodies an extreme interpretation of Scientology - and like many extremists, does not hesitate to attack others who do not hold his views. But to place responsibility for his actions squarely on the shoulders of the Church of Scientology goes a bit far. Cruise made his own choices based on his own extremist views. He made his own bed, and he can lie in it - just like the rest of us have to do. |

| Yeah cruise was a nutjob way before scientology. Having more money than you can spend in 10 lifetimes and fame beyond your wildest dreams does that to a person. |

| I think Cruise definitely did himself in with his crazy antics. Not necessarily with the movie studio, but with the fans. And that's what lead the movie studio to let him go, he wasn't bringing in the fans because of his behavior... especially the big ticket females who used to love him before his rant on Post Partum.

GloryB | That probably has alot to do with his "heart felt" appoligy to Brook Shields the other day. Or maybe watching a woman actually giving birth did a number on his brain. |
