| American Idol... this is pretty funny and pretty cruel as well! Last years contestant was horrible. I was laughing when I heard the guy that was America's Idol last year Taylor Hicks:
I mean he was horrible and totally the wrong look naturally.
So now check this out: Vote for the Worst
Sanjaya Malakar is getting a large support of solidarity by his Indian friends. Little girls all over are attracted to him, but as you can see some people are not so benevolent. Some people believe (probably people that either didn't make it to the top or at all on idol and looking at the crowds that show up to audition period then add word of mouth from the disillusioned well... and then there are the people that simply hate the show or think it is actually fake) that the show is fraudulent and are doing as a reality TV show rather than for talent.
I think it is rather cruel but rather funny at the same time. I admit I die a little everytime I hear anything about the show at all.
Your thoughts...

| Yeah, but do you think he can handle it? I mean, he might enjoy his 15 minutes of fame, but what about the rest of his life? He will probably never get that back, and it will be horrible. I would not to be that famous at my young age (I'm 17 too). I don't think I could handle it.

| You remember that Asian dude that was so preposterous that he got his own video. They'll make him spend his money on training probably... maybe someone will do it for free or something whatever they will do. It is totally laughable but hey Hicks was hilarious. He did a really sad Ford Commercial. They really tried and they took it off pretty fast.
I'm not saying it's right but neither is stereotyping skinny white women and any various black person that thinks they have talent. I have yet to see anyone have talent out of American Idol without the proper voice and music effects to make them sound good. They try to make Idol winners like Actual Sports heroes. Like that web site says... Its just a reality TV show!

| I've never actually watched it, and I really have no desire to.

| Laughin... I watch the tryouts and see if who gets accepted but more for who doesn't! Hilarious totally!
I find the present situation an interesting social moral delimma. A popular show... extremely popular... these people are clearly promoting a form of sabotage of a show they don't like cause maybe they are like me... tired of hearing about it. They aren't satisfied with the power of the button because not enough people are doing the same thing they are.

| I think America likes to laugh at other people's incomptencies even more than it likes a celebrity. I think flops on American Idol are exactly what they want-it shows that people really aren't any more special than them, even if they are on tv.

| Yeah thats a pretty new trend. Back in the days people liked to see people succeed. Unfortunate that gangbangers and empty minded sports stars and actors are the new Heroes.

| I think a part of it is how so much more information is available now. You're right, back in the day, people loved a hero, because they were seen as better, superior than average joe (or jane). Now, people realize that even 'heroes' aren't immune to life's difficulties. Everyone has problems.
