So what is your opinion on Mel Gibson? Do you really think that he was so drunk that he forgot where he was and just drunkenly yelled those stupid remarks cause he didn't know any better? Or do you think that he meant every single word that he said and in the right company says the same thing every chance he gets.

As someone who has grown up around a lot of drunk people, it is my experience that they can fall both ways but when it comes to talking crap. But when it comes to hate they are totally honest and I think that Mel was totally honest in what he said and that is how he really feels about Jews.

personally I don't really care. I know he is supposed to be some kind of big "christian" celebrity now ever since he made The Passion, but that doesn't really mean anything. He's not the first celebrity pulled over drunk and he won't be the last.

I think he meant most of it, but I don't really care. He's apparently an alcoholic and needs help. No matter what I think of his religious beliefs, I think this is something he needs the space to deal with.

Yes i think he meant it and his movie was his way of making his message known. He hide behind stating it was reenacting what the bible stated but it was just to promote that Jews to him were the cause of evil in the world.

Christians in general have created a religion that has now consumed them and turned them into what the religion preaches against. They create more sin then Ive ever seen and more self righteous hypocritical behavior they hide by reciting a passage they find useful from the bible.

Mel, Mel, Mel - when will celebrities ever learn. When a celebrity is out in public watch your tonque. The public will hold you to it. And sure one has money to cover up the stupid one says. But its out ther e - dirty laundry and all.

I am sure regardless of him being drunk, I am sure he meant atleast some of it. He need more than rehab to help. Make him work his time of in the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles for about 7 months/7 hours a day/7 days a week. Make him a docent there.(he he no religious conotation in the numbers there - lol noooooooo)

I just wanted to clarify that Mel Gibson is not a Christian, but rather a Catholic. Apparently he is not a part of the main stream Catholic religion either but a more "private" sect with a tad bit more animosity towards Jews. It is a sect that is very male dominated and he was brought into it by his father who makes no excuses for his dislike for Jews. I'm not sure of the name but is someone else knows.....

I grew up among a few drunks, sadly, and I've learned, sadly, that when liquor loosens the tongue, true feelings tend to come out, and the speaker doesn't realize what he's said, and doesn't remember the next day. A lot of hurt feelings. Mel could have been speaking his mind - who knows for sure - but time will tell whether he's dug his own grave.

I grew up with an alcoholic father (kicked him out of my life 8 years ago cause of it too) so I know exactly what you are talking about. The tongue of a honest hateful drunk person can be brutally painful and the pain can last forever. I don't think for a moment that he didn't mean what he said. I think that he will have a "career" after this but I don't think it will ever be the same, most people who make this type of error in judgement are often history in a short matter of time from what I have heard.

Mel has enough money and celebrity to last three lifetimes so I doubt his popularity will be tarnished.
