Lets face it. Mel Gibson is a star by any measure that the world can give him. First of all he is in the academy of actors known as Oscar winners. This in turn allows them more publicity (and money) in order to produce their own movies. The Passion of Christ is only Vatican One's version of the life and death of Christ. The fact remains that Mel Gibson is a Catholic and not just any Catholic, Vatican One. Here is some history:
The First Vatican Council resulted in two major dogmas: Dei Filius, which explained the relationship between reason and faith and Pastor Aeternus, which established the doctrine of papal infallibility. The most famous and controversial is that of papal infallibility, but the final decision was much more mild that desired by some. There were those who argued that the pope should be considered infallible in all things and that this infallibility was the source of the infallibility of the entire church. In the end, however, it was simply decided that the pope was infallible in a narrow set of circumstances: when speaking ex cathedra on maters of church doctrine.

He's also Aussie. Women think that he's hot, so I give him this. Driven by women, gotta stay in biz, lose a little face, gain a little character. Seem driven? Thats what I think of his current part in Hollywood. How do we think he is great? Not through the western ideal that you should implore your ability to the Eastern complexity of character and complete loss of will to work. The way you are strong is through the way that you are willing to make the west great. Possibly nostalgic. Possibly ideal.
Mel Gibson
Definately not working over your roots, but I think, MickinEngland, that title says it all, no matter what you choose to do. Your title, Mel Gibson's title (academy) says that no matter what you can just do the best that you can do. Striving to be the best is only with your character and all the rest is up to people. Title is something that is given to you, and if you produce it will come to fruitition.
