Default the ignorance of the Pentacostal church.

hello everyone. Just though i'll though this out there for you guys(or gals) to ponder over. Like I said in my other thread about pentacost, I used to be a member of this band of brainwashed "sheep". Since I have been freed from that I have looked at this religion from a fresh point of view and I must say it is full of ignorance. I'm trying not to offend anyone here if there are any pentacostals here, so please let me know if I am.OK here we go.
1.where does it say in the bible that jesus is God? His son yes, but God himself(herself, itself, theirself). I think where the confusion sets in is where the disciples call jesus "lord". Lord in the old testament was Yahweh in the original. lord in the new testament means rabbi, i think, correct me if i'm wrong.
2.why do they(pentacostals) believe that every little thing in the old testament also pertains to us living today?
3.They believe in speaking in tounges like it says in the bible, but it also says that if someone does speak in tounges there has to be a translater there, which I have never seen done.I have a theory about tounges but i'll save that for another thread.
4.They believe that the pentacostal church was the first church . History shows us that it was the Catholic church.
More rambling later.

Zombie-
It sounds like you are trying to understand why the Pentacostals teach what they teach? Are you trying to reach some level of understanding to help you come to peace with this religion you have chosen not to accept?

I am not pentacostal but I responded to your other post because I also left a fundamental religion that held some similar views. I still go over their teachings and my own rebuttals almost without thinking about it. It seems like a healing process. So here's my input on your points:

1. Many religions state that Jesus is God because the scriptures say that God and Jesus were 'one'. Religions that don't accept that might say they are 'one' in spirit like married persons are supposed to become 'one' not physically but in acheiving the same goals.

2. The religion I came from believed in most of the old testament. The thing is, if you are going to believe in that, why aren't you sacrificing animals or stoning people outside the city walls (oh, right they stoned people in the new testament also).

3. Speaking in tongues is supposed to mean you are filled with God's spirit and are giving praise to his name by speaking languages that you have never been taught. Why would God have you spread the word about himself when no one can understand you?

4. Even before the Catholic Church-before Jesus walked the earth there were other forms of religion-Buddhism in fact took root before Christianity. The truth is that every religion thinks that it is the only right one. Interestingly the Bible relates that the Jews were once God's chosen people but they lost their place with Him. I wonder why none of these other religions ever pondered whether they've kept their place with God? Especially when they are so full of hypocracy.

I don't know if these thoughts are helpful. Do you still believe in Christianity? Do you believe in the Bible?
