Default Exodus 21

When I read exodus 21, I was quite upset. It basically talks about how god lays down the laws regarding slaves. I was like "what?" Why would god want people to enslave other people? I find a moral contradiction when Jesus says treat others as you would want to be treated, or the golden rule, and god saying "ok here is how you should enslave people". It just further's my opinion that the Bible is a work of man and not god. What do y'all think?

There is a lot of stuff in the bible about god just sort of giving up and being like 'ok whatever. you people are going to do what you want anyway, so i just wont bother.' Does that sound like an omnipotent god to you? It doesn't to me. A god that won't try? Please.

Yeah thats pretty much my thoughts on it. The bible doesn't really make sense all the time. But does that go to support that perhaps there is no God?

Yahweh is social glue for the jews. Galvanizing them against the outside world is what the concept of Yahweh did. It's held them together for thousands of years. Strong rules to separate them from the outside. Rules to keep them together on the inside (10 males required for worship). The wars and genocides committed by the hebrew people were numerous and recounted in the old testament.

They particularly would take a conquered people and plant them elsewhere. It kept societies from rising up in familiar terrain once conquered. Moving the slaves about made them subservient.

But yahweh made his chosen people powerful and solid and they're still together to this day.

No,,,,, God doesnt Just give up.
He made us, He would certainly Not give up.
The only thing i have to say, Is I cant promise to get to this subject and explain exodus 21 to u, I dont know that i'll have the time to, But Go study it.
Check the hebrew words to the english and make sure what u r saying is accurate.
Alot of people try to twist Gods words around and make it sound like its something its not, Or even we can Just simpley Mis-understand the bible.
I am not familur with that chapter or even that book, But i do know that it is the OLD testament and doesnt refer to us, today. But I asume u r talking bout Then.
So just make sure what ur getting is accurate.
