Jehovah's witnesses et al

Since leaving this cult when I was 16 I have realized that JW's are not unique nor the ideas of the original founders. Other very similar religions include; Seventh-day Adventists, Christadelphians, Mormons, Bible Students.

These were all formed in America during the 1800's, all except some seventh-day adventists sects reject the trinity, strict moral codes, all believe armageddon will not end the world for all people, and only those who follow their version of christianity will be saved, all believe their religion is the only true religion. All are eagerly awaiting the final judement.

Anyone here have any experiences with JW's?

Technically a JW is like a Jew without the history right because they do not believe that Jesus has come yet. But he is coming! Supposedly. Tell us about the JW Messiah... is it Jesus or someone else?

to summarize, JW's predicted the world would end in 1914, then when that didn't happen they denied that they ever predicted that and later predicted 1925, then 1941. and of course that didn't happen so they again denied that they ever predicted the end of the world. The claimed that 1914 marked the beginning of the end of the current generation. One of their famous publishings from 1914 was entitled, "millions now living will never die". Now that the 1914 generation is dying off, they are again changing there literature. JW's believe Jesus is the son of god, not god himself, and neither human, similar to the holy spirit. since the 1800's they have been claiming that the world will end soon.

Christians and Catholics have been trying to do that for A LOT longer if that helps any.

I searched Wikipedia for this & they indicated that JW's think that the end is IMMINENT right now.

Sounds like a whole lot of wrong guesses.

Yes, it has been IMMINENT since they started their religion in the late 1800's

When they argue that there organisation consists of people and people are not perfect I like to use a verse from their bible version against them,

Deuteronomy 18:20-22

“‘However, the prophet who presumes to speak in my name a word that I have not commanded him to speak or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet must die. 21 And in case you should say in your heart: “How shall we know the word that Jehovah has not spoken?” 22 when the prophet speaks in the name of Jehovah and the word does not occur or come true, that is the word that Jehovah did not speak."
