Default Why do Christians want the end of the world to come so much?

Why do they want the second coming of Jesus? Why do they want this world to perish and suffer antichrist in all his might? Anyone got an idea? His second coming would indirectly cause so many death's it's amazing. For one, imagine a commercial plane over Atlantic Ocean. Imagine how big it is and how many people there are. Now imagine half of the plane with the pilots included dissapear. Now multiply that by number of every single passenger plane that is in air at that time. Scary number, eh?

Let's just call it 'wishful thinking'. It's selfishness. Every Christian thinks and wants end-times to be in their current life. Nevermind the deaths, they just want the affirmation that they were right. The Rapture is the only way a fundamentalist Christian could know that they are right without dying first.

That's really sad that they actually have to DIE to find out whether their religion is a lod of crap or not.

Sure,Jesus said -"I'll be back" (Matt 24:30) and although we look forward to seeing him, it doesn't really matter whether he comes in our lifetime or not.. ;)
As for that Rapture rubbish that some wacko christians believe in, here's what I think about it (PS - this got me banned from a wacko forum for posting it there only yesterday, see how nutty they are) -

RAPTURE by Mick
Rapture-Cultists believe christians will all vanish into thin air in a Mass Vanishing on judgement day, leaving unbelievers looking round wondering where they went.
Ha ha ha! As if God would allow all those driverless/pilotless vehicles and aircraft to career around and crash when the drivers vanished!
Furthermore, rapture-cultists think the unbelievers will get a "second chance" to become Christians! Ha ha ha again :)
See how Satan is behind the whole rapture thing, we can almost hear him whispering in gullible ears -"Psst, don't worry if you're not a Christian on judgement day, you'll get a second chance to become one, you can trust me, would i lie?"

Nobody - but nobody - can put a date on Jesus's return, not even he himself! -
He said - "Only God knows when Judgment Day will be, I don't know myself" (Mark 13:32)

Anyway, give him time, he was only crucified two days ago ;)
"With God a thousand years are as one day" (2 Pet 3:8 )

I don't buy into the Rapture concept. And most Christians I know don't, either. It seems that many people's perception of Christians is being shaped by a very strident and vocal minority. Personally, I think John, the writer of Revelation, ate some moldy grain, and tripped his brains out for a couple of days. But what do I know?

Well done mate, the bible says that too, keep at it and you'll soon make Archbishop of Canterbury.. ;)
"Beware men who spoil you with enticing words, deceitful philosophy not after Christ" (Col 2:4-8 )
"Ignorant people distort things.." (2 Pet 3:16/17)
"Some shall believe seducing spirits and doctrines of devils" (1 Tim 4:1)
"Little children, let nobody lead you astray" (1 John 3:7)
"Ungodly men have slipped in among you" (Jude 4)
"Don't get carried away by strange teachings" (Heb 13:9)
Jesus said:-"Call nobody teacher except me" (Matt 23:8-10)

I think church should not exist. Period. From what you are telling me, the church is going against every single thing that Christ said. It also ruins Christians image.(Vatican and young little boys for one)So why does church exist then? What is it's purpose? Someone, please explain that to me.

Quite simply, people like to let Org Rel do their thinking for them.. :)
But it's no good people herding together like that if they're all going stampeding over the cliff together..
The bible tells us quite clearly we have to do our own thinking -
"Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling" (Philip 2:12 KJV)
and not to end up as beefburgers -
"These men blaspheme in matters they do not understand. They are like brute beasts, creatures of instinct, born only to be caught and destroyed.." (2 Peter 2:12)
