Yh, I get what you mean, I've just always believed everyone, no matter how much you might disagree with them, should be given some sort of respect..(and i called him a nutcase) =)

I'll admit i can be overly nice sometimes,(except to my family, go figure) so maybe I don't hold the best judgment of character. I've never been one for having "thick skin"...

As for the nicknames, i have nickname phobia, no joke...one of my friends recently gave me the most ickiest one you could ever imagine...i googled and couldnt come up with anything! So yh, just as long as it doesnt sound toooooooooooooooooo bad, I'll be OK. LOL

I'll agree that I do enjoy toying with Pooh ... mostly because I think he's a zealot and when he doesn't like what I say he tries to offend me condescending rhetoric and belittles me by offering me "hugs" ... he doesn't pull that crap on the guys, so yes I do verbally spare with him ... he annoys me ... it was actually Duck that first accused him of posting condescendingly to me ... Now to the philosophical question of 'is telling someone to "STFU" bad?' From an absolute (godly) point of view ... No. Because bad does not exist. From a societal point of view ... depends on the particular society's point of view. A Christian's .. definitely (probably)
From a teenager friendly forum ... possibly.
From mine ... would not stop me .. so I don't actually care.

However, this tends to be a rather intellectual forum, and I really appreciate that, where the old "Yo! STFU" really doesn't need to come into play no matter how heated the conversation.

Over the weekend, I had an opportunity to sit down with a large number of people and discuss the issue of collegiality. We need to understand the classical view of that and proceed from there.

Now, having said the bull durham that is stated above, we don't always succeed at that and things will always have the potential to get a little salty. Same thing goes that I tell my students every single day: "Your best shot is always good enough."
