More intellectual rubbish from so called experts. I could post my own experts such as Josh McDowell, Lee Strobel, etc, etc... to counter your experts.

Let's make this intimate and personal: What if the Bible is right? Are you willing to bet your eternal soul that you're right and I'm wrong? I could throw expert quotes all day long and you could parry everyone with your experts. What it all comes down to is this: Are you 100% sure? All the experts aside.

Probably not. That's what makes you an agnostic. I'm sorry you have to live day in and day out unsure of life here or after death. I don't have that problem: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

Hopefully, you too, will one day find the same peace I have.

"Hopefully, you too, will one day find the same peace I have." - Abel: can't argue with that - I've said it before and will say it again: I wish I could believe. I'd be a lot happier; John

I will gladly attempt to answer your question tomorrow. It is my go-home time now. I am heading home to my beautiful wife and two wonderful kids. They come first, so bear with me. I don't have quite enough time now. Take care until tomorrow.

Why can't people accept the fact that death is the end? We are born, which obviously is the beginning; and we die, signifying an ending. I am sure that if there is something more beyond death, it will manifest itself in the proper time. In the meantime, life here and now is what matters most to me.

Here goes. To start with let me assure you that God did write the Bible. 2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God…Your example of passing a message around is perfect. It is totally amazing the even though God used some 40 different writers over a period of approximately 1500 years, the main theme of the Bible flows perfectly from Genesis to Revelation: God’s loving redemption of man. So too, is the main character of the Bible seen throughout: Jesus Christ. Everything in the O.T. pointed to the coming of Christ. The N.T. reveals His finished work. The Bible is accurate as a history book, science book, and as a book of 100% accurate prophecy. Visit this website to look at the phenomenal success rate of Biblical prophecy: http://www.reasons.org/resources/apo...prophecy.shtml.

Now as far as meeting God, I’ll use the example of Elijah: 1 Kings 19:11-12 “And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.”

God is not always in the loud and powerful, but He is that still small voice that gently speaks directly to us. Jesus says it is He that stands at the door of our hearts: Revelation 3:20 “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” Kay, I believe every one of us have felt that soft tug on our hearts, that unexplained squeeze on our hearts. That is God. All we have to do is open up to Him

Jesus gives us the reason so many miss meeting Him. When the two blind men came to Jesus for healing (Matt.9:28-29), He plainly asked them “Believe ye that I am able to do this?” He then made this statement “According to your faith, be it unto you.”

If we do not believe, then we will not open the door. However, once we open that door, and receive Jesus completely on His word, then we experience His sweet, loving presence. It is only after we accept Jesus, that He gives us the assurance that we are looking for.

This is the reason I tell people that I cannot convince them that the Gospel is true. It’s God role to convince you. I apologize for being so long winded. Hope this helps.

I must write Abel off as a completely lost cause on this forum because of making the statement that God wrote the bible.

You have no standing with me me intellectually at this point.

You are not going to win or convince anyone here by quoting that book, you could try and dust off your thinking cap and put the book down for a while.

That is completely within your ability to write me off. I'm sorry you feel that way but it really doesn't bother me. As in the words of the Apostle Paul in his first letter to the Corinthians: Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful. But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man's judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self. For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord.

I was asked a specific question by Kay as to the reason for my hope. My response was based on the Bible, as I count it as the final authority for what I believe. Asking me to lay aside the Bible, as a Christian, is equal to asking a lawyer to lay aside his books of law; or a ditch digger to lay aside his shovel; or an accountant to lay aside his calculator.

At least I have something I consider as authoritative; something which guides my life. As an agnostic, what do you have?
