| "Sweet Jesus" I recently came across some info that apparently the exclamations "Jeez!" and "Gee!" are derivatives of the name Jesus. I guess a way of exclaiming the frobidden "Jesus!" without actually doing it (must have been a teenager that came up with that). Anyway, a supremely devout person should not use those words anymore than the Jesus thing.
What do you think about that?
And secondly, what do non-christians exclaim? |

| I don't believe that to say "Jeez" or "Gee" is the same as "Jesus!". I believe they are simply alternative exclamations. That's like saying "My Goodness" is the same as "My God!". I simply think that those who choose to not use God or Jesus' name in vain, choose alternative words to exclaim. |

| This Atheist exclaims both "God" and "Jesus" along with some other words that can't be retyped here or said in the presence of children.

| LOL!
I have heard this expression all my life, in several contexts, among them:
1. Awe and amazement as your best buddy drove up with the same damn car you wanted.
2. Awe and amazement as your best buddy who drove up with the same damn car you wanted, sees you kissing the new girl whom he planned on asking out for this weekend.
3. As a petition to Deity, as used by various and sundry Christian sects with a touch of the charismatic to them.
4. In the throws of passion, just before an orgasm. |

What do you think about that?
And secondly, what do non-christians exclaim? | Non-Christians exclaim the same thing...Personally I think that people that worry about things like that need to find a new hobby. What is important is our relationship with Jesus...not the stupidity he forgave us for. My question to you is: What is more important...how "devout" one is...or how much they understand how much they are loved? They are not the same thing. |
