You're welcome to your opinion, it's just when you want others to buy into it, you need to give them a reason. Scholarly peer reviewed articles mean that a professional in the field wrote it, and the his/her peers read and agreed with it. This adds much more validity than someone off the street writing down their opinion and posting it on a website.

Re: surmised real Mt. Sinai at Jebel El Lawz, Arabia

Reference (documentaty film)

"The Search for the Real Mt. Sinai"
produced & directed by Steve Greisen, Exploration Films, c1999.

*The content of this film documents the findings of two archeologists.
It presents a strong case.

Also, if you google in "real mt. sinai", then click the icon on arkdiscovery.com (the one that pertains to Mt. Sinai found), you will find what appears to be a picture of archeologist Ron Wyatt divulging his findings on CBS Morning News (April 18,1984). There are also photos of the site itself.

Presently, I am trying to dig up references from which I derived my earlier statements. I am also trying to confirm the date that this information appeared on the NBC-TV show "Dateline".

Re: surmised real Mt. Sinai at the Jebel El Lawz site

...more references

A show concerning the real Mt. Sinai at the Jebel El Lawz site was aired on Dateline NBC November 13, 2000.

Pinkoski.com offers a list of books and magazine articles which were written about this site.

Re: surmised real Mt, Sinai

There are more than enough people who attest to the fact that the site at Jebel El Lawz does in fact exist.

What's there?

A scorched mountain peak; the scorched peak was not caused by volcanic lava flow as only the rock's exterior surface is burnt.

Altar-like structures that were obviously human-made.

An enormous split rock with obvious signs of water flow on the ground below it.

A place in the desert, where the waters are bitter, which could reasonably be considered as being on the route of an exodus from Goshen to Jebel El Lawz.

In the Gulf of Aqaba, which adjoins the Red Sea, there is a partially destroyed underwater, natural land-bridge which could also be reasonably considered as being on the route of an exodus to Jebel El Lawz. Coral-encrusted chariot wheels are strewn about under the sea at this site.

All these places and things are described in the old testament of the bible. Assuming that the old testament is at least somewhat historically correct (and why wouldn't it be?), I surmised my opinion from this.

I suppose that the existence of a real Mt. Sinai is a matter for scholars to debate. Personally, I'd like to see the acclaimed events, which have been recorded to have taken place at Mt. Sinai, to be proved irrefutably as a hoax.

Belief in the God presented at Mt. Sinai is the root premise of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. These religions have caused a lot of turmoil for a very long time.

In the free world, we are lucky enough to enjoy a democratic system of government. In my opinion, I think that mandates presented by politicians would be much more rational if the majority of them didn't believe in religions based on the unproven God of Mt. Sinai.

Scholarly, peer, reviewed citations are the result of intense scrutiny executed by many scholars to determine the authenticity of a theoretical proposal. They maintain the status quo in academia. Therefore, it often takes scholars eons to agree on things.

In 1616, Galileo (the famous, Italian astronomer) travelled to Rome to convince the church that the earth revolved around the sun instead of the other way around as the church had maintained. It took religious scholars over a century to fully agree that Galileo's theory was indeed correct.

If the Jebel El Lawz site turned out to be the real Mt. Sinai, the church would once again be embarrassed and the scorched mountaintop peak would be the subject of intense, scientific scrutiny.

The "Statue of Liberty" is only a mass of shaped copper, but don't tell Americans that. To most Americans, the statue represents the idea of liberty.

That's all Mt. Sinai is. It represents the idea of God. Although the synagog, the church and the mosque claim to represent God; they don't.

As an agnostic, I accept the idea that a spiritual realm may exist. However, I do not understand this dimension, if it exists at all; and neither does anyone else.
