Elderly well-known British writer and broadcaster Ludovic Kennedy decided to become an atheist many years ago, and ever since, he's written books poo-pooing christianity.
Since then, he's been in and out of mental hospitals with depression..
And in his autobiography he tells how in World War Two as a young naval officer, he watched a survivor from a sunk ship drown.
"I could have jumped in to save him" he writes, "but the thought simply never occured to me and I've regretted it ever since".. Ludovic Kennedy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia |

| I'm very surprised that you mentioned job...that one i'm really surprised that anyone would have wanted to include in the bible... 'testing'???... at the end, he gets 'new' sons and daughters and everything is 'replaced'... but what stands out in this story most for me, is his 'christian friends' that sit around debating which 'sins' he has committed to be so punished (this part of the story is very realistic) and that, oh well, just because of a game between god and satan, his current family is demolished, but, oh, well, because he is a 'good' man, they are 'replaced' with new ones....sorry old sons and daughters, we just had to kill you off... |

| My Favorite Passage: 1 Cor: 13 I love Saint Paul's letters..or those attributed to Saint Paul. One of my most favorite passages is one of Saint Paul's. It the passage about Love and the importance of it being present in all we do. From reading the passage, one catches on right away that Paul was not influenced by appearance, rather he was turned off by the do gooder who failed in the ordinary charitable deeds.
It's not enough to do things for others to see ..one has to have something that others do not see motivating you ..and for the Christian that is love.
So, no matter what you do..Give away all your money; hand your body over to be tortured, or give to the poor; these will be nothing without the right and proper intention for doing these things: that is for Love alone |

| 4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self–seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
1Cor 13:4-8
i really enjoy these few lines, maybe love is just chemical reactions in the brain but these passages give me hope that it is some how more |

| Matthew:
5:7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

| I like the stories of O.T. Joseph, Job and Moses. David and Bathsheeba is a good story.

| This verse made me laugh the hardest.
MAL 2:3
Behold, I will corrupt your seed, and spread dung upon your faces, even the dung of your solemn feasts; and one shall take you away with it. |
