Not me mate -
"Thus saith the Lord, learn not the way of the heathen" (Jeremiah 10:2)
What little I already know of the Koran is quite enough for me thank you -
[Koran 9.123] "O you who believe! fight those of the unbelievers who are near to you and let them find in you hardness"..
And the Mormons don't impress me either -
"Cain, Ham and the whole Negro race have been cursed with black skin, the mark of Cain, so they can be identified as a "caste apart". A people with whom the other descendants of Adam should not intermarry." (Mormon Doctrine, Apostle Bruce R. McConkie, pg. 114)
As for the Vedas, Hinduism operates an "all men are NOT created equal" policy -
"Discrimination against India's lowest Hindu castes is technically illegal. But try telling that to the 160 million Untouchables, who face violent reprisals if they forget their place" Untouchable @ National Geographic Magazine
The best that can be said about those 3 religions is that they help us see how great and beautiful christianity is by comparison.. |

Ha ha ha!
The Bible says there were dragons, ghosts, UFO's, aliens, demons, angels and so on, so if you don't believe the bible it means you don't believe in those things either!
What a dull boring view you have of things ;)
For example UFO-abductee Travis Waltons true account was made into the book and film "Fire in the Sky".
He and his lumberjack mates had been cutting down trees all day, then were ambushed by a UFO on their way home, possibly tying in to these verses which imply some kind of "Guardian of the Trees". "I will punish you, a fire in the forest will devour all around it" (Jeremiah 21:4)
"The whole earth is at peace, the trees rejoice at no woodcutter coming" (Isaiah 14:7/8 ) The Walton Experience - An Ordinary Day |

| You know I don't believe in them either except the Alien UFO thing but only because LIKE God there is a possibility that they might exist. I am not saying they do and I certainly am not falling for the whole abduction thing but there is a slight possibility that they do.
I like reading fiction... I write fiction... the book and movie I am writing at the moment is filled with desparate creatures totally unrealistic. It is FUN to MAKE THEM UP! Even if I didn't I have desparate creatures like politicians and religious zealots that make me laugh and horrify me with their crazy convictions each day. Quote:

| Incidently are you saying that Aliens are some form of Angels with the quotes above?

The word "alien" means someone or something of extra-terrestrial origin, something not from our world.
So that means God, Satan, angels and demons are technically "aliens".
Even Jesus himself said - "I am from above. You are of this world, I am not of this world" (John 8:23)

| The point being if one applies strict censorship to one book, one should apply the same rules to all books - and it appears that Walmart is not ready to do that as it has not censored the Bible.
Private enterprises have the right to sell - or not sell - anything they want. That is a benefit of a free market system. Don't like it? It's simple - don't shop at Walmart.
Libraries and other institutions that recieve public funding do not have that right to censor some books and not others, IMO.

| I'm sorry this whole topic seems ridiculous to me. Why is this even an issue? Who cares if walmart sells bibles? If they want to sell bibles, let them. It's not like you have to buy one...Am i missing the point of this thread or something? Because this whole issue seems really....insignificant to me. =/

Now, to head off any comments about censorship, or its wrong to ban any book, understand this (which the letter clearly explains). We are simply trying to get Wal-Mart to apply the same standard of decency to ALL the books it sells. As the letter states (and includes this link), Wal-Mart chose to ban Jon Stewart's book America because it included a mocked-up naked picture of the Supreme Court. If Wal-Mart finds a humorously intended anecdote offensive because it contains nudity, then they surely should find the Bible even more offensive (for the reasons listed in the letter).
Please help out this campaign with your support and spreading the word.
| I'd rather not. This is ridiculous, I don't care what you say, you're promoting state censorship, Wal-mart has the right to sell whatever they want, and not sell whatever they want, maybe this would have gone down in the Soviet Union but not in a free democratic country. |

| I agree. They are in a capitalist society, and can sell it if they want to. Not that I like WalMart. |
