Default The Bible Quoters

Have you ever met a person that speaks in solid bible verses? You present them with a question, perhaps about their religion, and they answer you with Jesus said this, ect, ect. It's not that I care what their religion is or what they believe, but it bothers me when people substitute the bible for their brain. Why do they refuse to think on their own? NOT HATING, or trying to over generalize, just throwing the question out there.

Yeah bible quoters really creep me out.

Then again I guess the same could be said about people who quote from their favorite movies all the time.

Organized religion just has too many similarities to a cult for it to be a coincidence.

LOL I don't know if i would consider them cults, but i can see where you get the idea. It just really bothers me that there's so many restrictions in most religions. No room to process things on your own and decide for yourself right from wrong.

=O Oh no I am most definetly a movie quoter! Does that make me a hypocrite? >.<

HOWEVER if you wanna talk cults, Texas A&M and they're aggies are the best example i can think of! I swear they brain wash people there! j/k =D

The restrictions are what a lot of atheists and agnostics will argue is the cause of humanity being held back from advancing to our true potential.

I tend to somewhat agree with this theory when I think of how many advancements we could make in medicine alone. HOWEVER COMMA.... I also shudder to think about where we sould be without religion.

One of my favorite quites about that subject happens to come from a movie (Jurassic Park) .

"You were so busy being happy with the fact that you could create these dinosaurs you never stopped to think if you should."

Same thing with mankind. Mankind is so busy working on advancements in science and technology that we sometimes forget to stop and ask ourselves if we should. I believe the end of civilization will come due to that arrogance some day and religious leaders will find a way to "make it" fit into revelations somehow and point threir fingers saying I told you so...

So in a funny way we will all have been right

But by then will it really matter?

If some people want to be scientists so what?
For example give the guy who invented anaesthetics a medal..
If you object to that, you can always stand by your principles and have a tooth pulled without it ;)
And if some people want to be monks and shut themselves away in remote monasteries, so what to that too?
Whatever floats your boat..

But only ONE religion -christianity- has the Son of God in it, the rest aren't therefore worth a spit and are just shallow micky-mouse belief systems ;)

Obviously you don't know much about world religions or their followers.

Also, George, many mainstream religions started out as cults, so there is is no wonder that many religions have similiar characteristics.
