Default Noah's Ark And The Flood Never Happened

This is for the believers that like to try and make rational arguments for some of the ridiculous stories in the bible.

Noah's Ark - a sinking ship (with only one pair of rats)

Also, there's simply not enough moisture in the earth's atmosphere to have covered the earth and "all mountains 20 feet below water".

I have always had a problem with this story. It just seems so off to me even as a child and hearing it in church. Just seems like another scare tactic to me.

Im sorry but i have to speak out against both of you in this matter.
My friend-
Having done a lot of travelling, a lot of cultures mention a flood.

The Mayans have a flood in their creation story. They say that their gods first made them out of mud, but that was washed away by a flood. Then they were made out of sticks, and those are monkeys. Then they made them out of corn and those are the Mayans.

Then the aboriginals in Australia mention a flood, and the Ancient Chinese, along with many other cultures.

I think there was a flood, but Noah was certainly not the only survivor. That's mathematically impossible.

Me-

There are too many religions that bring it up... sumerians..basically all of the polytheistic, judaism all relgions around that time. They described it very differently tho...but it was the same concept And it is impossible to flood the whole earth, even with all the end of iceage, but dont forget noone knew that Americas existed

Default A regional flood

I believe that there very well could have been a REGIONAL flood.

I agree with Sasha that there is evidence of a flood in many cultures. Well, didn't you ever have to read the Epic of Gilgamesh in college.

That was an account of the flood, separate from Noah.

In those days (when the bible was being written ) they did not know about the geography that we do. To them, the World could have ended 100 miles down the road. Like he said, they had no idea of our side of the world.

And while there IS evidence that something happened, it doesn't mean that two of EVERY animial in the WHOLE world was put into that vessel. Maybe it meant that two of every animal in that region. Who knows.

transfer of ideas, word of mouth. doesnt mean it didnt happen. one guy shows the other guy his book, the other likes it and tells all his friends with a little spice... and so on.

It would have been impossible for Noah to build an ark the size of a super tanker even with the help of 10 others in his lifetime.

And if you believe some christians who want you to believe man lived alongside dinosaurs then you believe Noah got a T-rex to come on board and not eat anybody.

Noah and the dinos..

I do not beleive that thing about dinosaurs and trust me he did not build a boat that size. But he probably did build a very big boat for his time.

So you think the bible stories are all somehow based on fact? If so I've got quite a few stories we can debate on bud.
