Exactly! And this is how the story of flood has probably come to life.

No way of telling what the world looked like back then. Based on the bible it was during the flood that lifespans dropped from the 900's to what is more normal for humans. As to why so many cultures have a flood story, the bible says that shortly after the flood everyone spoke one language and God ended up scattering them all over the earth and giving them different languages. Granted there is alot that God was said to have did but there is also alot of detail that would be unnecessary if someone were simply making up a story. I think that is a strong point of the bible, to point out all that God did that is not explainable along with all the Jesus did that is miraculous and tie it all together as God's plan. There really is no other collection of writing in any religion that gives so many details of miraculous events over such a long period of time with such a consistant goal of making man aware of God; to choose to accept him and do his will.

Think outside the box, people :)
The Noahs Ark story may well be a metaphor where the rising floodwaters represent pressure to evolve spiritually or die..
Or maybe the floods represent the ocean of space in which the Ark (planet Earth) is floating?
Or think of the earth (Ark) as a DNA repository..

I think this story is very straightforward and doesnt have that much of a mening like you jkust described behind it.You could be right...but it would make make more sense...besides who thinks outside the box?

Christians actually are the ones that dissalow most of important scientific research, not letting scientists think outside the box.

Both very good points in their own right.

Some stuffy fundie Christians might believe that way but not modern enlightened ones ;)
For example the guy who invented the camcorder deserves a medal because without him I wouldn't be able to enjoy Worlds Wildest Police Videos on TV..
