Default New Book: Bible Shockers!

The insights into the Bible that ended my faith!

Book Description
Bible Shockers! is a collection of disturbing observations of and about the Bible. The book shows that unlike modern day Christianity, the Bible portrays the God of the Jews as essentially a human-like king who lives in the sky. Jesus, it turns out, was a sinner who was promoted to serve at God's right hand. The worshipped Jesus, it turns out, is identified in several places as the antichrist. And the whole notion of "spirit" is a corruption of the Biblical concept of intelligent breath. The doctrines of divine ommiscience, omnipresence, Jesus paying for the sins of the world, the hope of going to heaven, the threat of everlasting torment, Ex Nihilo creation and many more fundamentals of the Christian faith are revealed to be unbiblical and the primitive, unscientific nature of the uninspired text are all laid bare. The observations are well supported with sample citations, inspiring the realization that these are things that have been well hidden in plain sight. Brace yourself for these and more Bible Shockers!

What a croc!!
Went through much rubbish and found much of the so called facts I have seen and heard before. Says a lot with no evidence and if there is some it is twisted. Keep it going though as anyone with half a brain will have thier faith confirmed by this.

Are you Bill Ross and trying to promote your own book?

Default Bible Shockers!

Yes. My thinking is that the book might be of interest to many on this particular forum

It would seem that your book is purposely being provocative. What good is served by that other than promoting an atheist agenda?

I am not against proving it not to be what many christians claim it to be, but to provoke people's faith doesn't seem to be another matter...

Do you care to prove that jesus existed in the first place before you label him as the antichrist?

Your claim that fundamental christians are primitive and unscientific is already acknowledged.

Nice ones Gettin'

The atheist agenda as far as I can see though is doing everything for themselves. Actual philosophical atheists can differentiate between people as thinking beings like themselves but I still find atheists very selfish so far anyway.

I disagree and think it depends on the individual. I don't think atheism is inherently selfish. Than there are a variety of ideologies and philosophies that an atheist can subscribe to. I think many atheists have a strong sense of right and wrong since they do not rely on an external agency for morals. They often rationally critique morals and ethics as they do god. Atheists can be a colorful lot. Just like any group, I have met some that I don't care for. It is a minority and usually a few bad apples that get a group misappropriated labeled.

I have not read much at all about what he has written but there is some truth to some of it. The talk about creation ex nihilo being a concept not found in the Bible is actually true. The Bible does describe the beginning of the world consisting of a water chaos and it says nothing about the water itself being created. Here's a footnote in my Oxford Annotated Study Bible (Augmented 3rd. Ed.) on the first two verses in Genesis:

Quote:
1.1: Scholars differ on whether on whether this verse is to be translated as an independent sentence summarizing what follows (e.g., "In the beginning God created") or as a temporal phrase describing what things were like when God started (e.g., "When God began to create . . . the earth was a formless void"; cf. 2.4-6). In either case, the text does not describe creation out of nothing (contrast 2 Macc 7.28). Instead, the story emphasizes how God creates order from a watery chaos. 2: As elsewhere in the Bible, the deep (Heb "tehom") has no definite article ("the") attached to it in the Heb. Some see "tehom" here to be related to the Babylonian goddess Tiamat, a divinity representing oceanic chaos, whom the head god, Marduk, defeated in Enuma Elish, a major Babylonian creation story. Christian interpreters have tended to see the "Spirit" of the Trinity later in this verse. Wind fits the ancient context better (see 8.1).

There's no such thing as an atheist agenda. Atheists can have their own personal agendas but atheism, in and of itself, has no agenda.
