I for one, respect a forum that demands a certain degree of respect for those that don't chose to curse themselves. I am a northerner with certainly no hint of prudishness, that like a lot of us curse pretty freely.

If I enter a site that allows harsh responses fortified by curse words, I can enjoy a certain amount of freedom to curse, but I'm not sure it enhances the clarity of my points.

I too was surprised when it appeared that I was 'attacking' another member, but now I understand the value system this site is founded on. I don't feel that my tongue is shackled by the request, or in this case 'demand', since all it demands is the use of guide lined manners. I couldn't curse in front of my father but I could still talk to him with the respect that he demanded and deserved.

profanity is also blasphemy..... getting banned is a lot better than stoned, (with stones that is) I suppose.

I avoid swearing in all aspects of my life (don't always succeed), I don't enjoy hearing other people swear. But I have some sympathy for Gettin' in Tune, but not for the reasons GiT cited.

My thoughts are: there is nothing wrong with words, (swear or otherwise),
it is the intention behind them that matters. So if it is my intention to offend, belittle or ridicule, then I should get booted out.

But I will watch my Ps and Qs
