Default General Philossophy?

perhaps we should have a section devoted to philosophy, such as the works of Plato, Aristotle, John Calvin, Freidrich Neitchze, Hobbes, Locke, Karl Marx, Adam Smith, and the like.

I agree. I'm keenly interested in philosophy, and just recently have been studying Stoicism in my own free time (I know :P), and have found myself sympathetic to their views.

Yes, philosophy is most important for moral development. I used to participate in Internet Infidels philosophy section before they banned me.
