In Islam, Paradise is a place of eternal life for the believer, a place where no-one will have ill-feelings toward another. The Prophet said, in Paradise there are things which no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human mind has thought of, and that one who experienced even a brief stay in Paradise will forget every past hardship. The Prophet described it in great detail, saying that even the smallest things in Paradise are worth more than the Earth and all that is in it. The greatest part of Paradise will be the opportunity to see Allah, and talk to all the Messengers since Adam and for as long as you wish, as there is no time limit. In fact, one could talk for days about the descriptions given by Muhammad. One of the important concepts is that in Paradise all the pleasures are untainted, whereas on Earth any kind of pleasure in excess has some negative consequence, so for example, eating too much good food may result in bad health or repeatedly getting drunk might result in family/social problems. All the foods and drinking, including wine, will be pure and without any negative effects. The same applies to the people, no calls of nature or menstruation, everything is purified.
In Paradise, whatever need one has will be fulfilled, if one liked driving cars or flying planes, or playing games, it will be provided. While in the Qur'an and hadith, sex isn't explicitly mentioned as far as I'm aware, scholars agree that it is certainly implied and so if the dwellers want sex they will have as much of it as they want and of course, sex will have no ill-effects, being pure like everything else. The concept of servants, or 'wives', in Paradise is not that they are humans, at least those that existed on Earth, but human-like and made for Paradise. To be fair, I'm not an expert on this, in fact, no Muslim I know discussed the idea of sex in Paradise until certain elements of the media got excited over it.
Now maybe one can choose to be, as the OP put it, an incorporeal being, in some ethereal place where one gets to know everything and feel an ultimate, non-physical and sublime pleasures, but judging by the almost universal appeal sex has, I expect such an incorporeal being would be very lonely in that part of Paradise. Perhaps wishing for an incorporeal self would be something for those in Hell, and contrary to the OP's apparent belief, killing many people is the way find that out. |
