Lost is going to be as disappointing as the 'X-files', or 'twin peaks',
When they do start to tell us what is going on, it is going to suck.

Lost is an exercise in wasting time. almost nothing happens in a course of one show and they tell everything from five hundred viewpoints. and the flashbacks, which were not bad at the beginning, really start to suck.

How long are you willing to wait for the revelation? 7, 8, 9 seasons? I'm not willing to invest so much time in that.

You might say that the end doesn't matter to you that much, and you enjoy it as you go along, but that's not quite true. The show has 3 major plot engines:
1. What the hell is going on (the others, the hutch, the numbers etc.)?
2. The flashbacks (suck)
3. The interaction between the characters. (only interesting in relation to 1.)

Nobody would watch if the 1st engine did not exist - If they were just regular outcasts stranded on an island without all the mystery, it would have been a non-funny version of 'Gilligan's Island' or 'Swiss family Robinson'.

So the mystery does matter. and it's going to be anticlimactic. No secret can be worth waiting for YEARS - the best secrets or revelations in cinemtic history were movies like 'the sixth sense' 'the usual suspects' 'the crying game'
I doubt the secret here is as good, and we had only to wait two hours for those secrets to be revealed.

But besides that, it's not a bad show.
