the reason is actually quite simple and is part of the christian faith as well. As we know from the religions of jeudasim, christianity, and Islam god sent prophets to every nation but after a while each prophets message would die out and people would start addingthings to the religion, and then another prophet would come to correct the people but people eventually add things to their religion and deviate. Thats why in every relgion you find remenatnts of an older belief which if you look at connects to monothiesm.
