I guess this can be true, though I'd argue against any literal bible fundamentalist having a clue about context. That would tend to involve a study of the history of the situation and that would tend to demonstrate a lot about the people who wrote the texts and related texts.

Maybe you could still take it literally after that, I'd just imagine you'd have to do so with willful ignorance at that point.
