However, there are some things in that post that I can't disagree with, no matter how insulting you are trying to be. Yes, certain aspects of education leave me scratching my head. Spelling, vocabulary development, penmanship, sentence structure, paragraph structure.... All of these things are terribly lacking in our schools. Why? I'm really not sure. All I know from the literacy acquisition workshops and classes I have been taking over the last several years say one thing regarding the above, but the practice in the classroom is totally another.

I have to agree with Buzz, teachers have become lazy with too much technology in the classroom, and student literacy is suffering. Or, just possibly is it that we have so much pressure put on us with the sanctions involved with the requirements of No Child Left Behind that we aren't teaching what is necessary for life, and instead are focusing on the tests to protect our funding and our jobs?
Duck, I didn't say it was your fault specifically. I dare say, it's the teacher's unions that are at fault. Instead of constantly worrying about your salaries and trying to get those raised, try teaching better. I say get rid of the teachers unions. Your pay should be based on merit. If you've got kids failing all the time, then you should be fired. (Not you specifically Duck). In general. You should be looking to blame Sen. Kennedy and McCain for that atroshious education bill they put out there. Contrary to popular belief, everything that goes wrong is not Bush's fault. This time next year, who'll you folks be blaming? I'm anxious to find out. Who'll be your scapegoat then? Just for your general knowledge, my boys do know how to spell. Not for anything that the govt. schrools do though. I make sure that they take pride in whatever they do in their studies. The younger boy wants to even be a writer some day. Just as a matter of fact.
