I think we have a bit of a disconnect here. The "submission" aspect is not why I don't believe in Hell. The Hell-myth is, however, intimately related to human overlords trying to frighten other humans into obedience.

I think Hell is extremely unlikely because...
  • A genuinely omnipotent god could not be harmed by any other being, and would have no need for 'obedience' of any sort.
  • A genuinely loving god would not even consider torturing a sentient being for eternity.

If you do believe, also try to find it in yourself to believe that an actual god would not resort to such barbarity.
