You are correct. My views are based solely on the Bible. I hold the Bible as absolute authority. On what authority are those others views based on? If others wish to hold on to the authority of science, philosophy, or man's wisdom, so be it. Keep in mind though, science, philosophy, and man's wisdom are ever changing. God's Word is settled. It does not change. At least I have something firm to hold on to.
I know the opinion others here have of me and my views. And that's fine. Just remember, I'm not looking for answers here. I feel completely secure in my beliefs. I am confident in my foundation. | then why are you here? to argue your beliefs with learned individuals that utilize more than one text?
At one time it was believed that certain illnesses were due to evil spirits and science has discovered what it actually is/was ..... how can only utilizing one ancient book be the definitive truth .... doesn't make sense .... perhaps it helped people make sense of things long ago but today ..... well, it doesn't do it for many of us ....
I don't see where you can say that the bible is "absolute authority" when you know that it has been chopped, changed over time, gospels that were deleted .... mankind is flawed and flawed mankind wrote today's bible ....
Once again I ask .... why are you here? |
I am here to bring balance. Doesn't seem quite fair to have Christian threads, Bible threads, God talk threads, and not have anyone there to speak from the Christian side.
Yes, I believe the Bible, and the God of the Bible. If I am able to believe God was able to create everything from nothing, it is easy for me to believe God could preserve His Word as He said He would. Psalms 12:6-7 "The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever."
This is my belief and I make no apology for it. I am very comfortable in my convictions. I am not trying to convert anyone. That's not my responsibility. I answer questions concerning the Bible, and Christian views.
I just noticed, you didn't call me Pooh. I'm a little disappointed. You're slipping Deb.
