There are numerous reason to think that this has to do with earlier Sumerian mythology. Specifically, a myth that takes place in a paradise garden where a goddess named Nin-ti heals the organs of a sick god including a rib. It turns out that "ti" has two meanings one of which is "to make live". There is also a Biblical notion that Eve means approximately "she who makes live".
