Do you think punishing these parents will actually be a deterrent?
I for one doubt it.
My issue is that they still didn't get it after they killed her, i.e 'We didn't have enough faith to heal her!', if you do nothing, others are going to believe that their faith is stronger and they will be able to heal said sickness. They must punish them (harshly, I think)so those others will understand that there are consequences for this type of experiment.

Even a dog will learn if you punish it when it does unwanted behavior, although I have my doubts about these people, but even if they don't learn you still have to punish them. I would also make them go to a treatment center for people that are sucked into cults, for the obvious reasons.
