Do I believe in a soul as defined by the religion of Christianity? Absolutely not. Same goes for an after life. My definition of a soul is something that one possesses when he becomes enlightened about the true nature of Ultimate Reality. With that said the vast majority of the human species is rather soulless. As for the term after life, it doesn't make much sense to begin with. If life continues after the death of our body then how is the cessation of bodily functions any more significant than your body's composition changing on any other given day? The fact of the matter is that it wouldn't be so there would be no point in calling it an after life, you could simply call it life. Otherwise we should start calling any moment in the future an after life, e.g. life after today, life after me turning 50, life after me running a marathon, life after me being diagnosed with cancer, etc. etc.
