 Why I lack belief but feel there is another realm
I just wanted to say, I can relate to the "God is not so Great".
Ok, What loving God would let little children die horrible deaths and suffer? Why would he want to "force" people to love him or burn in hell? Doesn't love come from the heart and not from fear? Why would Jesus have to die for my sins? If I need forgiveness of "sin" then why should anyone have had to die for it? Why could "God" not just forgive without wanting millions to hear a tale of horrid pain and punishment? When I forgive people, which I do, no one needs to suffer for it for me to forgive them. Also, why would a loving God give us life for us to spend its entirety worshipping him? (would not that be somewhat selfish?) We should live each and every minute paying homage to him?????
On the other hand, in my belief something exists beyond my human body. Once I had an experience that should have killed me and it defies all medical logic as to why I did not die. I won't give alot of detail, but I lost ALOT of blood, was unconscious for hours. (the loss of blood was massive and the EMT's said it looked like a murder scene). I lived and walked out of the hospital less than a week later and did not even require blood transfusions. I have no recollection of the hours I spent completely unconscious. The E.R. doc said, (by this time I was awake), that he did not understand why I was alive.
Let me share one little bitty experience also. I remember once I worked in a hospital and there was an ice machine in the snack bar. The floor around it was concrete and had no vibrations what so ever, there was not a person within 15 feet of it, and a very heavy metal ice scoop flew from the top of the machine across the room. It "flew" as if someone had thrown it violently. It did not just fall off on the floor. This defies all logic and basic laws of physics. I am not making this up. I was also in the company of at least 5-10 other people who saw it happen.
Just a few thoughts.
