I joined because I was hoping for some kind of outlet. I get so angry whenever I hear about even a small triumph of the creation scientists or anti-stem-cell research groups, or when another celebrity announces their devotion to some religion, and there is absolutely nothing I can do but complain.
So I thought, "why not just discuss various things with people who won't call me a moron for being a non-believer." I was hoping to share with some people my most brilliant and ingenious ideas and get them to see things my way, or to have others give me new things to think about. So far, I've been pleased with what I see here.
Sometimes I think people get to arguing with each other in circles, or they start talking cross-purposes without realizing it, and this makes whatever thread they are posting on very long and pointless to read. When it's clear to me that each person doesn't understand what the other is saying, I just stop reading. But aside from that, my experience here has been great.
