It made sense Bjarki and thank you for filling us in. Even though I don't have kids, I wholeheartedly agree that the emotional scarring from mean-spirited or even unintentionally cruel juvenile behaviors can linger for the rest of some peoples lives.
A thoughtless joke, a ripping comment, a humiliation in front of your classmates, all can have long-term repercussions.
I know of an interesting quote that states

(Sometimes this % drops to 50% in other versions of the quote but you get my drift)
So I would use this quote to your benefit by saying that you at least recognize the source of your anger/former anger/bitterness.
That recognition is 50-90% of your waking up.
