That's a post by me a while back that illustrates the sequence homology between species involving potassium ion channels in our cell membranes. These are crucial tools for cell activity in virtually all animals and the sequences are clearly related between all animals. The researchers in the peer reviewed study that I linked there illustrate how multiple elements of the potassium channel have been duplicated and mutated over time as species have diverged.
Studying the mutation of these various elements of our genome in conserved regions allows us to determine similarity of creatures and "time since divergence" between species. I linked a neat little graphic with the tree of life mapped out based on these potassium ion channels.
Of course,
'the proof is there if you understand science', so get with understanding the science. Ironically, "science" is latin for "knowledge/understanding"... So your statement about "understanding the science" is redundant. Science IS understanding.
