People who had near death experiences claim that if you expect to go to hell, the universe will grant your wish. It will be a hell of whatever it is you imagine it to be. After a while you will realize that this is something you thought up and will choose to experience something else. As far as this particular individual and this book (I havent read it so I'm basing it on what I persoanlly believe):
1) He actually had some kind of out of body experience and went through what I just described above
2) He is full of **** and is doing this to make money

Either way I personally do not believe in a "place" called hell or in an omnipotent dark/negative entity called the "devil" or whatever other name people assign to it.
