So you don't buy in to Joseph Campbell's interpretation of religions and the myths within?
I've read Campbell pretty extensively since I was introduced to him by Bill Moyers' PBS series in 1987, and I don't recall his having claimed that any of the myths he analyzed were literally true. Rather, most of them, including the Genesis account of the creation, contain certain snippets of truth that may or not be instructive, depending on what you're looking for.
