I swear, based on the vitriole directed against me, I just assumed I must have said something really terrible to a first-time poster. So I decided to look back to see just how terrible it was, as follows:

Hi Aljo, and welcome. I have to admit to a certain attraction to the "intelligent design" theory myself. It anwers some questions, although not as many as organized religion does.

I'm interested in your 70/30 split between theism and agnosticism. Does that mean you're 70% certain there's a supreme being and 30% uncertain?

I predict that, if you're serious and objective about your search, you'll find that there's no more substantive reason to believe in a nebulous intelligent designer than one who's been named jehovah or allah.

Like you (I'm guessing), I've found it hard to observe all the complexity and order of the universe and not believe there's some plan behind it. But that supposition is all I've found to support such a theory and, as such, I've had to relegate it to the category of unknown and (so far) unknowable.
Maybe it's just my "barbarian" insensibility, but the foregoing doesn't seem all that horrible to me. It was only after Vinterland interposed some of his usual hyperbole and Geshti imposed her rules of etiquette that I somehow became the object of disdain.

In the meantime, we've allowed ourselves to be diverted into a meaningless stream of diatribe that has led nowhere, except maybe to provide some degree of self-reinforcement for those among us who see themselves as arbiters of acceptibilty with regard to forum posts. If they can find no higher calling, I guess that'll have to do.
