It's finely tuned and calculated for a specific outcome in the political arena. Science and evolution have to do with repeatable observations that all can experience and reproduce. No one has monopoly on the truth there.
With ID, its all about the controversy and nothing else. | I agree with this as far as the leaders are concerned.
What confuse me though are the regular people. People like my neighbors. I went to a men’s group at a Presbyterian church and a guy said he minored in paleontology and he thinks the science is hog wash and that the bible is the truth. I really could not believe it. I was so stunned that I did not even know what to say.
But it is fear Og. Fear and shame drive a lot of what we see in people. |
I think you are right in some cases, but in some cases people just pick the easy route. Like what their parents believed is good enough for them. No reason to reinvent your view of the universe. People are really good at lying and some people grow up in an environment in which they learn it so well, that they can lie to themselves. Add in a touch of Ego and you have a "steadfast believer". I am always impressed with people who are raised one way but believe something that they found on their own. I think that is the true nature of humanity to seek the unknown. It bothers me though when people claim to know the unknowable, and are willing to defend it to the detriment of others. That kind of intolerance is what fed socially destructive things like the dark ages, and WWII. I hope that we aren't headed for one of those again.
