No way of telling what the world looked like back then. Based on the bible it was during the flood that lifespans dropped from the 900's to what is more normal for humans. As to why so many cultures have a flood story, the bible says that shortly after the flood everyone spoke one language and God ended up scattering them all over the earth and giving them different languages. Granted there is alot that God was said to have did but there is also alot of detail that would be unnecessary if someone were simply making up a story. I think that is a strong point of the bible, to point out all that God did that is not explainable along with all the Jesus did that is miraculous and tie it all together as God's plan. There really is no other collection of writing in any religion that gives so many details of miraculous events over such a long period of time with such a consistant goal of making man aware of God; to choose to accept him and do his will. |
