Unfortunately, it is a message of war. Even Sura 9:73 shows clearly that jihad is not an inner struggle but a more brutal word that aims to kill all that is not muslim.

It is not a myth as much as it is a missunderstanding of history. Such verses were usually at the beggining of Mohammed's "revelations". Because he did not have any power yet, he had to show comapssion to all that he hates. Later on when he was able to brainwash the masses, he proceded to say verses like the numerous ones you find in the ninth sura.

"Allahu Alkbar." and it's not just rioting muslims. Five times a day I have to hear this nonsense everytime the mosqu calls out the athan or the call to prayer. It means god is greater.
Greater than anything and everything (even himslef?). Not necessarily the god of the bible or the gospels. Remember, according to the koran, the christians are wrong to believe that jesus is the son of god. I'm guessing that muslims have a harder time believing that god could have a son than believing in the assent of Mohammed to heaven on Pegasus... I mean Burraq!
