Not an expert on Christianity here, but the first gospels were oral stories passed down, then they were written down by unknown folks and then rewritten, and rewritten. Mark was the first Gospel to be written according to those who study such things and the estimate on it was between 55 bc to 85 bc. Just depends on who one listens to. If in fact that there was an historical Jesus, no one was following him around with pen and paper to report it. Bottom line, we have four gospels out of 30-50 that made the Bible, we don't know exactly when they were written, or who wrote them, or how many times they were edited by other writers. Not sure if this limited explanation helps at all.
