This is simply a variation on the logical fallacy of
argumentum ad populum.
Superior numbers do not make something true. If they did, the Bible could be rendered false by the following procedure:
- Write a book that contains the statement "The Bible is false."
- Translate it into the same number of languages as the Bible.
- Print (Bible + 1) copies.
Do you see the problem here?
Popularity does not equal truth. They sometimes coexist, but they are not equivalent.
One thing you should seriously consider when trying to match up the Old Testament prophesies with the Jesus story: According to the Gospels, Jesus was learned in the Tanakh and in fact was addressed as "rabbi". If he wanted to fulfil a scripture, all he had to do was do whatever the scripture said. In other words... A self-fulfilling prophesy. Not precognition on the part of the scriptural author(s), but an individual on a mission deliberately putting himself in harm's way to make an already-known writing come true.
