I agree that most of the stuff that Christians live by come from the Pauline epistles, but I would say that's because they make up the majority of the New Testement.
As far as misogony, you must have heard someone that has a horrible interpretation. I assume that comes from Timothy and the wives subbmitting to husbands passeges.
I can't speak for everybody claiming to be a Christian, but scripture being God-Breathed is reference to the original autographs. I can't remember the original greek word is, but it does litterally mean God-breathed. Interpretations and translations are not inspired. Copies were subject to human error, but a lot of the errors I think were weeded out.
Interpretation I think is sometimes literal and sometime metaphorical. Depends on the context, but the principles for each should still apply today.
